WILL PAULA BE BACK WITH SIMON ON IDOL AFTER ALL?

Fox loves me -- Fox loves me not. Fox loves me -- Fox loves me not. These words may have been running through Paula Abdul's mind as she contemplated her contract negotiations with Fox and her future on American Idol!

Now reports are surfacing that the whole issue, which has been a hot topic for AI fans for weeks, might still not be settled. First Paula said that Idol wanted her for the duration of the show's run. Next her attorney said that she had not received a contract proposal. Then fans were told that Fox and Paula could not reach a meeting of the minds on her salary, especially in comparing what Fox wanted to pay her and the contract figures circulating for host Ryan Seacrest and judge Simon Cowell.

It seemed that Fox had some leverage in negotiating with Paula after the show brought on fourth judge Kara DioGuardi and then signed her for the coming season.

But Paula acquired some leverage of her own when former AI executive producer Nigel Lythgow announced that he and Paula have scheduled a meeting to talk about her joining the SYTYCD show. Lythgoe had said that Fox was crazy if they let Paula go, and he seemed ready to snatch her for the dancing competition program if Fox decided to blink.

Anyway, talk of Paula returning to Idol seems only rumors at this point. NY Daily News, in an article posted today (Thursday) credits "gossip news site" TMZ with saying that Paula may still be back.

As the drama continues, though, Abdul has proven her popularity through the massive campaigns to #KeepPaula and #SavePaula for the American Idol show.

And should American Idol execs continue to blink in favor of a three-judge panel with apparently far less popular DioGuardi, the beneficiaries may just be the growing-in-popularity So You Think You Can Dance.

So fans are left wondering. Does Fox love Paula -- or does Fox not love Paula.

Clearly, though, it seems that fans overwhelmingly do love Paula -- and still want her back! Sphere: Related Content
